What happens to your Weebly online store
A closing store is a harder problem than a closing website: your products, your order history and your customer list are all inside an account with an expiry date on it.
Quick answer
Weebly online stores in the 67 affected countries stopped serving customers on 27 September 2026, and the account holding your products, orders and customer details is deleted on 26 December 2026. Export everything through Account Settings, then My Data, then Download My Data, and check that your product list, order history and customer contacts are all in what you receive. Square points Weebly users toward Square Online, but Square Online is not offered in every country Weebly is leaving, so confirm you can open one from your country before planning around it. The quickest way back to taking money is a payment link or a lightweight store embed on a new site, which you can have running in an afternoon.
Getting back to selling, ranked by how fast
| Approach | Time to first sale | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Payment links on a simple site | An afternoon | A handful of products or services |
| Embedded store widget | A day or two | Up to a few dozen products |
| Square Online | A day, where available | Sellers already using Square in person |
| Full ecommerce platform | A week or more | Large catalogues and real order volume |
Step-by-step
- 1
Export the store data, then check what is missing from it
Take the Download My Data export, then open it and look specifically for three things: your product list with prices and descriptions, your order history, and your customer contact details. These are the records you cannot reconstruct, and a general site export does not always separate them out clearly. If something is absent, go back into the store's own section of the dashboard and export it there while you still can.
- 2
Save your product images at full size
Store exports commonly contain the resized versions used on product pages, not the originals you uploaded. If those originals only ever existed in Weebly, re-download them at the largest size available, because rebuilding a catalogue around small images is a job you only want to do once.
- 3
Deal with anything customers already paid for
Outstanding orders, unredeemed gift cards, subscriptions and store credit do not survive the closure gracefully. Work out what is outstanding, contact those customers directly with a plan, and settle it while you still have the order records. This is a reputation problem long before it is a technical one.
- 4
Check whether Square Online is actually available to you
Square's own suggestion is to move to Square Online, and that is a reasonable path if you already take payments with Square in person. But the closure was attributed to regulatory change in those 67 markets, and Square Online is not offered everywhere. Try to create an account from your own country before you commit to rebuilding your catalogue there.

Get a way to take payment back online quickly
You do not need a full store rebuilt to start selling again. A simple site with payment links, or an embedded store widget, restores the ability to take money within a day. Build the bigger catalogue afterwards, once the revenue has stopped being interrupted.
Tips & best practices
- Your customer list is the most valuable thing in the account and the easiest to overlook. Export it, and email those customers your new address before they conclude you closed down.
- Check which payment processor actually held your money. If it was Square, those payouts are separate from the Weebly site closing and follow Square's own process.
- Price your rebuild against your real catalogue size. A twelve-product shop does not need the platform a twelve-hundred-product shop needs, and most people over-buy at this moment.
Common questions
Can customers still buy from my Weebly store?
+−
No. In the 67 affected countries the storefront was unpublished on 27 September 2026, so there is nothing for customers to reach. The dashboard still opens until 26 December, but only for you, and only to get your data out.
What happens to my order history?
+−
It stays in the account until 26 December 2026 and is deleted with everything else. Export it before then. If you need order records for tax or accounting, that deadline is not negotiable, so treat it as a bookkeeping task, not a website one.
Is Square Online a straight replacement?
+−
It is Square's suggested path and works well if you already use Square for in-person payments, but it is not available in every country Weebly is leaving. Confirm you can sign up from your own country first, otherwise you will rebuild a catalogue you cannot publish.
Do I need a full ecommerce platform to start selling again?
+−
Usually not. Most small Weebly stores carried a few dozen products or fewer, which a payment link or an embedded store handles comfortably. Match the tool to your catalogue rather than to the store you might have one day.
